Stay Easy Bro is a nod to NOLA style, big horn arrangements and a brand of greasy, funky jazz that is best pulled off where fender rhodes and a tight, pocket rhythm section are employed. This was written as a funky farewell of sorts for a family member living abroad, reminescent of the grooves and style of jazz we both enjoyed. It features a mellow and repetitive rhythm section groove, a catchy, punctuated horn melody, lush and interweaving horn lines on the bridge and notable solos from the brass members of the band. A looping outro at the end gives the rhodes time to open up and build a solo statement up until the last tight unison line that rounds it out. Overall it's a feel-good, head-nodding kind of track that's not too rarified for the modern ear - still "jazz" - but the funky, accessible kind made for your every day kind of person just trying to find their groove in life.
