A music broadcast license authorizes the use of music in televised and streamed programming—TV, OTT, FAST channels, promos, trailers, radio, and similar broadcasts. At The Music Case, broadcast usage is covered by our Platinum License.
It’s the permission to synchronize (sync) a music track to picture and distribute that content via broadcast channels (linear TV, OTT/CTV, FAST, radio, and related platforms). This license is separate from consumer streaming and social-only uses because broadcast involves specific rights and clearances.
In practice, your production team obtains sync/master rights from the music provider (e.g., The Music Case), while the broadcaster typically covers public performance via their PRO blanket (e.g., ASCAP, BMI, PRS, GEMA).
Your production obtains a license to sync the track to picture (and use the master recording) for broadcast. This is included in our Platinum License for broadcast usage.
Broadcasters usually maintain blanket agreements with Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) to cover public performance of music on-air. Your network or platform reports cue sheets; the PROs handle the rest.
