Dubstep Royalty Free Music

by Chance Bulger

Dubstep Music started its appearance in the world of dance and electronic music in the late 1990s. It is a kind of new music style as it counts only about 25 years of existence.

What is dubstep music?

The name “dubstep” originates from a mixture of two words: “Dub” and “2-Step”. Dub music does not need any clarification as it has been around for many years. “2 Step” music is  second name for British Garage music genre.

Dubstep has been increasingly popular as it very easily recognizable from the deep repetitive sub-bass lines. The rhythm is syncopated and very close to drum n bass style. High frequencies from synths  (“fat noise” , scream like sounds)  are also evolving. Tracks are usually fast tempo, near 140 BMP (Beats per minute).

Another common characteristic is the “rewind effect”. Noisy repetitions of screamy samples, stopping and starting again, creating a sound of vinyl rewind.

Dubstep music is highly energetic and uplifting. It is widely used as music for videos featuring high adrenaline scenes, sports and trailers of adventure scenes.

Some of the best known bands of Dubstep music are: Caspa, Zeds Dead, Seven Lions, Skrillex, Rusko, Flux Paviliion.

Licensing Dubstep Tracks

Licensing dubstep music for videos and other media productions from those artists can be a time consuming and very expensive process. Usually, you need to contact the band or the manager, who will usually tell you to contact the record label who owns the rights of the recordings. In order to license a track and include it in a production, you need to clearly state what will be the video or the production about, and inform the copyright owner – the label – about the territory and the length of the deal (where and for what time period you will be using the track).

The copyright owner will then come back with a price quote.
